I have been involved in the music industry for over 15 years, where I started out as a guitarist in an alternative rock band in 1989 and slowly diversed into electronic and dance music exclusively since 1993.
Early sessions in 1993 worked with Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen), David Sterry (Real Life), Rebbeca Mendoza and Tony Kopa (The Truth) resulting in 4 recorded songs. Since then various tracks have appeared on compilations both in Australia and overseas including the U.S.A, Canada, Poland, Malaysia and Thailand.
Along the way I have released remixes of several covers including a "Neil Diamond medley", Sweet Caroline, "Star Wars theme" and the opera classic by Pucinni "Nessun Dorma". These tracks are released under alias names such as Miljhana-K, Imperial Force and Dream Chaser and have also been licensed internationally including the U.S.A. After being released on the itunes website in early 2005 "Star Wars" peaked at the position of 21 in the itunes US dance music chart and the "Neil Diamond Medley" has reached 67 on the same chart.
The first major release was in 1997 with a project called P.U.L.S.E. It was an album entitled “One House – One Dream” containing 12 original dance tracks and is available on the itunes website under the "Purestate" name.
Since the release of the album, I have written theme songs and general music for various locally and internationally aired television programs. These include the locally produced dance music and issues show "BPM Australia", the internationally aired fashion and lifestyle show "World of Style" and “The Stylist”, also a lifestyle program airing on Foxtel in 2003/2004 in which many tracks from the album are also featured. I have also licensed music from my catalogue to various production companies for corporate video production and powerpoint presentations etc. Many of these songs and more are included in the second full length album for "Purestate" entitled "Soundscapes" which is released on the itunes website only at this stage.
The 2nd major release was a song called “Folklore” and was first released on a compilation called “Evolutionary Vibes 3” which was album of the week on Triple J in August 1998 and reached number 1 in the Australian Music Reports' Electronica charts soon after. During this time the track was played on Triple J and was featured in the Herald/Sun as a stand out track during reviews in the promotion of the album.
Subsequently, in 1999 the track “Folklore” was picked up by the label Vicious Vinyl (owned and run by Andy Van from Madison Avenue and John Course) and was released including remixes under the name “De Jure” on vinyl only for the dj/club market. It reached the top 100 on the national club play charts in Australia.
Since then I have completed many new songs for some new projects including the 3rd and 4th “Pure State” albums entitled "Dance Grooves - Electronic Minds" and "Shape Shifter" respectivley which are now released on the itunes website.
And in 2007 music for the feature length film "Rhumline" includes 5 Pure State tracks.
Influences for Pure State range from European dance/breakbeat to ambient electronic. (Groove Armada, 1 Giant Leap, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Leftfield, Fatboy Slim, FSOL, Enigma and Deep Forest).
